Theodore A. Haeussner, DMD

July 15, 1948 – July 8, 2013

Theodore A. HaussnerHaeussner Family Dentistry is what it is today because of Dr. Ted Haeussner.  He had been a dentist in Orange Park since 1975.  He truly loved dentistry and considered his patients and colleagues as close friends.

Dr. Haeussner had a remarkable gift of making people feel at ease.  He will be remembered for his sense of humor, positive attitude and genuine interest in others.

Ted grew up in Jacksonville, graduating from Bishop Kenny High School.  He attended Loyola University and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1973.  He served two years in the Air Force as a dentist.  Dr. Haeussner opened his own office in Orange Park on his 30th birthday.

Ted was very dedicated to his family.  He and his wife, Kathy, were married for 41 years.  They were blessed with two sons, Danny and Brian, who also became dentists.  He liked to joke that this gave new meaning to family dentistry.  Ted’s favorite title of all was “Granddad.”

He enjoyed being active in his church and community.  Ted was a wonderful mentor and many knew him as “Coach.”  He also gave back to his profession, starting as an officer in local dental societies and ultimately serving as the president of the Florida Dental Association.

Ted’s motto was “The only constant in life is change.”  He enjoyed the challenge of continually evolving, looking to the future.  He believed in being a perpetual student.  Dr. Haeussner liked being on the leading edge of technology and trends.

Ted was diagnosed with kidney cancer in March 2008.  It metastasized to his lungs.  He fought a valiant five year battle with courage and determination.  Dr. Haeussner enjoyed dentistry so much that he kept working until Feb 28, 2013.  It was his passion.

His legacy continues.
